Nina Ahmad has built a movement rooted in the real struggles of Philadelphia. From her earliest days as a Deputy Mayor for Public Engagement under Mayor Kenney, she understood that government must listen to the people it serves. She launched the Office of Public Engagement to bring city hall closer to neighborhoods that had been left behind.

Her work did not stop there. As President of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Organization for Women, Nina has fought for equal pay and an end to workplace harassment. She has stood with communities of color, with labor unions, and with young people demanding a voice in their own futures. These are not abstract commitments. They come from a life lived in service.

When Nina ran for Auditor General in 2020, she made history. She became the first woman of color in Pennsylvania to win the Democratic nomination for a statewide executive office. In that general election, she received more votes across Pennsylvania than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton had received in their respective campaigns. That is the measure of a candidate who can bring people together.

Nina knows what it means to build something from nothing. She came to America at twenty-one with a dream and earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. She became a molecular biologist and a small business owner, creating good jobs through union partnerships and labor-built initiatives. She raised two daughters who are now college-educated and making their own impact in their communities.

But her greatest strength lies in her ability to listen and to act. She has served on nonprofit boards. She has worked with mayors and governors. She advised President Barack Obama on issues affecting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Through it all, she has remained grounded in a simple truth: community is hard-won, and it requires dedication.

Nina Ahmad runs for City Council at-large because she believes Philadelphia deserves a representative who understands both the weight of history and the urgency of the present moment. She has the experience. She has the vision. Most importantly, she has proven she can deliver results for the people who need them most.
